Facilities
The physical facilities include a central administrative office, lecture room, and garage-workshop; a gate house, which monitors those entering the grounds; and 52 former ammunition powder "bunkers" which have been converted to storage, laboratories, and classrooms. Water, electricity, telephone and email is available. Many miles of road (view maps) are located at Tyson, some are paved, and some require 4-wheel-drive vehicles. Tyson has several canoes, plus life jackets, paddles, and carrier trailers, which are available for special research or educational trips on nearby watercourses. Tyson has a telescope and Observatory managed by the Washington University Physics Department.More information under construction. |
