Research Statement:

I am broadly interested in spatial processes that influence ecology and evolution. My research centers around three themes: behavior, ecological interactions, and how space mediates ecological and evolutionary dynamics. My approach is to develop conceptual models of spatial dynamics and employ field experiments to test model predictions.  I see theoretical and empirical approaches as necessary, complementary components of a successful research program.  I am particularly interested in how individual-level behaviors can give rise to population- and community-level patterns, and how understanding these linkages informs basic and applied ecology.
